Many business owners know about  blogging. They know that it can help their business. However, there is an apprehension to actually getting down to business and writing out a post.

This is completely understandable. Not everyone is excited about writing. Especially for business! It can be difficult to know what to write about and what content would be useful to users.

Here are a few things to help you get started

Write Posts That Help

Before you start a post, think, “How is this going to add value to my readers?”. This will prevent you from writing just about your business and your accomplishments. Not that it’s bad to write about those things, just keep those posts in moderation.

Try and write helpful posts that give some sort of value to your readers.

Break Up The Content

People scan web pages, and rarely read long paragraphs. Break up your content with headings and/or images. Write short, easily digestible paragraphs that deliver quick information.

Always Sound Like You’re Doing Well

Even if things aren’t going well in your business, don’t blog about them. Openness and transparency are great, but when it comes to blogging always give the impression of success. Your positive approach will attract people better than a negative one. You don’t have to lie, just write about other things than your losses last quarter.

Link To Other Articles

Linking to other articles around the web is a good way to get more traffic to your blog. Also, it gives readers more resources and in-depth information about the topic you are writing about. Another benefit of linking out to other sites is that you show that you did a little research before you wrote and it’s not just your opinion.

Always Promote Your Posts

When blogging for your business, it’s crucial that you promote your content. Use social media sites like Stumble Upon, Facebook, and Twitter to get the word out about your post. When promoting your posts on Twitter, it’s a good idea to send out tweets a few times in the next day or two after you post. Tweets have a very short lifespan, so it’s a good idea to spread out your tweets that link to your articles a bit. Only try to post once on Facebook and other social media sites. You don’t want to get annoying!

Conclusion

Blogging in today’s world is essential to an effective web presence. There is no doubt that if you consistently blog for your business that you will see an increase in traffic to your site. Aim to post a couple of times a week and watch your analytics go up and up!
