Working with Malleck Design is different than most other web design firms. When you work with us we don’t just get your requirements, go back into a cave and present your results—we choose to use a more comprehensive and collaborative approach.
From initial discovery, to sketches, wireframes and on to the final mockups, we work with you to nail down exactly what will be most effective in achieving your business goals. This way there are no surprises. You are kept in the loop every step of the way.
1. Discovery
This first phase is where we sit down and hammer out the details of your project. we work with you to get into the nitty-gritty of your business goals and objectives. Once we discover a set of clear goals for the site we then begin to perform in-deapth research into your business, your competitors and your industry as a whole. This is one of the most crucial parts of design as it will guide all of our decisions going forward. You will receive a research/strategy brief compiling all of the findings in this phase.
2. Moodboards
Moodboards are graphic collages compile samples of certain design styles. These moodboards help us nail down the overall tone, color, typography and imagry that will best reflect your message. Moodboards are tremendously helpful in getting on the same page about the direction of your project.
3. Sketches/Wireframes
Wireframes are essential to an effective web design. They offer a chance to get the foundation right before any color or styling is applied. Many times wireframes are simply done with pen and paper to outline where certain elements will be on each page. Once we work through the sketches we will often transfer them to a digital wireframe to get a more detailed look at the structure of each page. Again, you are involved with this process giving and receiving feedback.
4. Full Color Mockups
This is the exciting part! Now all of our planning will come together in the mockup stage. Most of the design decisions will have already been covered in the previous phases so there won’t be any surprises. However, we will go through and explain why decisions were made and how they relate to your stated business objectives. This will all be handled in a face to face meeting (in person or over Skype).
5. Front-end Development
Once the mockups are signed off on, the development stage begins. This is where your mockup is transformed into a working web page. Using standards compliant HTML5 and the latest CSS and Javascript techniques, your website will be built on a rock-solid foundation of bullet-proof code.
Content Management Integration95% of webstites utilize a Content Management System of some kind. While there are an endless number of CMSs, we personally use Concrete5 and Wordpress, depending on the project needs. Both are well built and well supported. The CMS will allow you and your team to update your site with ease, saving on maintenance costs.
6. Testing
Testing is essential before launch. We personally test the code, links and browser compatibility of your site. Your website will function in all major browsers (IE7-9, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome). Your site con also be optimized for Mobile as well through a variety of techniques.
7. Launch
After testing we’re ready to launch your site to the world! Once launched We will go through and test all pages once more and look for any bugs or errors that may have taken place in the process.
This is a process that tries to keep your comfort and peace of mind a priority. It can be unnerving not knowing what's next and what exactly your designer is doing. That’s why we try and keep you involved in the process as much as possible.
